Installation notes

Disconnect the vehicle battery before making power connections.Mount the processor securely in a dry, ventilated location.Route low-level signal cables away from amplifier power wire whenever possible.Verify every input and output assignment before powering the amplifiers.Begin tuning with conservative output levels, crossovers and limiter settings.Save a backup of the completed configuration.

Plan your inputs, output channels, amplifiers and speaker crossovers before wiring.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A DSP gives you detailed control over how audio signals are routed and adjusted before reaching the amplifiers. Depending on the model, this can include equalization, crossovers, output levels, time alignment, phase adjustment, signal mixing and channel routing.

Your DSP needs enough inputs for the signals coming from the factory or aftermarket source and enough outputs for every independently controlled amplifier channel. Active systems generally require a separate DSP output for each tweeter, midrange, midbass and subwoofer channel you want to tune independently.

A graphic EQ uses predetermined frequency bands, while a parametric EQ allows you to select the frequency and usually adjust its gain and bandwidth or Q value. Parametric control is more flexible for correcting specific peaks, dips and speaker-response problems.

Only when the product specifications explicitly state that the EQ bands are available per output channel. Review the Graphic EQ Bands Per Channel and Parametric EQ Bands Per Channel specifications on this page. If a value is not listed, per-channel availability has not been verified.

A DSP can integrate with a factory radio when it accepts the required high-level speaker signals or compatible digital inputs. Check the input types and supported input voltage before connecting factory speaker outputs. Some installations may require an additional interface or line-output converter.

You can perform basic setup yourself, but advanced tuning benefits from measurement equipment and experience. Before playing the system, verify input routing, output assignments, crossover frequencies, output levels and speaker polarity. Begin with conservative settings to protect the speakers, then save a backup before making further adjustments.
