Choosing speakers for your pods does not need to be complicated. Start with the opening size, consider how you want the system to sound, and make sure the speakers and amplifier work well together.
Not necessarily. Speaker size describes the general category, but cutout diameter, mounting depth, and outside diameter can differ between models. Compare the dimensions listed above with your speaker pod before ordering. We try to only sell speakers that fit our pods, but some speakers listed here are too deep for certain applications.
Choose an amplifier that delivers approximately 165 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms. RMS power is the important rating for matching an amplifier; do not use peak-power ratings for this comparison.
Most speakers can be heard using head unit power. How loud they will be depends on the sensitivity of the speaker and the output power capability of the head unit. Head units are only designed to handle 4-ohm speaker loads, wiring a dual 4-ohm speaker setup in parallel on a head unit is not recommended. To get the most out of the speakers we sell here it is recommended to get an amplifier.
Manufacturer grilles are not designed to fit many speaker-pod installations. Our Thump Covers provide a clean, durable speaker-cover solution for almost every pod application.

- Mounting depth (MD): the space required behind the mounting surface
- Overall diameter (OD): the speaker’s total outside width
The speaker must fit all three measurements—not merely share the advertised speaker size.
