2.5-Inch Speakers for Pod Builds

Add clear vocals and focused midrange detail where a larger speaker will not fit. A 2.5-inch midrange keeps the pod compact and works especially well as part of a multi-speaker or three-way system.

Are 2.5-inch speakers the right size?
Choose 2.5-inch speakers when placement flexibility and a very small pod footprint matter more than midbass output. Compare the cutout diameter and mounting depth with the pod, then use the manufacturer’s recommended high-pass filter to keep low bass away from the driver.

Match the amplifier to the build

Multiply the RMS power per speaker by the number of speakers on each channel, then choose an amplifier that delivers clean power at that load and matches your final impedance.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Choosing speakers for your pods does not need to be complicated. Start with the opening size, consider how you want the system to sound, and make sure the speakers and amplifier work well together.

No. “2.5-inch” is a nominal size, and the actual cutout diameter, outer diameter and mounting depth vary by manufacturer and model. Compare the speaker dimensions with the pod specifications before ordering.
Use the recommended RMS range shown on the speaker product page and confirm the amplifier’s output at the final wired impedance. Small midrange drivers need an appropriate high-pass filter and should not receive deep bass.
Choose impedance based on the number of speakers, the planned wiring and the amplifier’s stable load. Four-ohm models work well in smaller systems, while higher-impedance models can simplify wiring several speakers to one channel.
For protected interior speaker pods, a standard speaker is generally suitable. Choose a weather-resistant model for pods exposed to moisture, mud, salt or direct outdoor use, and follow the manufacturer’s installation guidance.
