12-Inch Speakers for Extreme Pod Builds

Build around maximum cone area, aggressive midbass impact and extreme pro-audio output. A 12-inch midrange is a specialized choice for large custom pods where space, structural support and amplifier power have already been planned.

Are 12-inch speakers the right size?
Choose 12-inch speakers only when the build is intentionally designed around a very large driver. Verify the complete frame, cutout, mounting depth, magnet clearance and weight, reinforce the mounting surface, and plan the amplifier and high-pass filter before ordering. These are midrange speakers, not subwoofers.

Match the amplifier to the build

Multiply the RMS power per speaker by the number of speakers on each channel, then choose an amplifier that delivers clean power at that load and matches your final impedance.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Choosing speakers for your pods does not need to be complicated. Start with the opening size, consider how you want the system to sound, and make sure the speakers and amplifier work well together.

No. “12-inch” is a nominal size, and frame dimensions, cutouts, baskets, magnets and mounting patterns can vary substantially. Compare every published dimension and the speaker’s weight with the pod before ordering.
Use the recommended RMS range shown on the speaker product page and confirm the amplifier’s output at the final wired impedance. Twelve-inch mids need substantial clean power, secure wiring and a carefully set high-pass filter; they should not receive subwoofer frequencies.
Choose impedance based on the number of speakers, the wiring plan and the amplifier’s stable load. Calculate the final wired impedance and required total RMS power before choosing the amplifier.
For protected interior speaker pods, a standard speaker is generally suitable. Choose a weather-resistant model for pods exposed to moisture, mud, salt or direct outdoor use, and follow the manufacturer’s installation guidance.
