A 2-channel amplifier is an excellent choice for a pair of dual-speaker door pods. When two matching 4-Ohm speakers are wired in parallel on each 2-Ohm-stable channel, the amplifier can power four speakers while preserving left-and-right stereo control. It can also power two individual speakers or, when supported by the manufacturer, be bridged into one higher-power output.

Common build configurations

ONE 4-OHM SPEAKER PER CHANNEL

Connect one 4-Ohm speaker to each channel for a simple two-speaker stereo system. Each speaker receives the amplifier's listed RMS output per channel at 4 Ohms.

TWO 4-OHM SPEAKERS PER CHANNEL

Wire two matching 4-Ohm speakers in parallel on each channel to create a 2-Ohm load. A 2-Ohm-stable amplifier can then power four speakers, with each channel's RMS power shared approximately evenly by its two speakers.

ONE BRIDGED OUTPUT

When the amplifier supports bridging, combine both channels into one higher-power output for a compatible load. Follow the manufacturer's bridged wiring diagram, minimum impedance and RMS rating exactly.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A 2-channel amplifier normally powers two speakers—one per channel. If it is stable at 2 Ohms per channel, it can often power four matching 4-Ohm speakers by wiring two speakers in parallel on each channel. The available channel power is then shared by the two speakers connected to that channel.
Yes. Connect one dual-speaker pod to each channel. If each pod contains two matching 4-Ohm speakers wired in parallel, each channel will see a 2-Ohm load. Use an amplifier rated for 2-Ohm stereo operation and compare its 2-Ohm RMS output per channel with the combined speakers.
